Rio +20 Global Youth Music Contest-Nepal

Rio+20 GYMC project formally started on the 1st week of Jan of 2012 in Nepal. The RIO+20 GLOBAL YOUTH MUSIC CONTEST was a global competition for young people organized by the  International Association for the Advancement of Innovavative Approaches to Global Challenges (IAAI) with a wide number of partners and youth networks in the context of the forthcoming Rio+20 United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development to be held in June 2012 in Rio de Janerio,  Brazil .

RIO+20 GLOBAL YOUTH MUSIC CONTEST encourages youth to express their hopes, concerns and thoughts on future of your earth  through the universal language of music as a powerful expression that incites commitment for suitable development.

Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) took lead in this process to encourage youth to participate in the contest. Mr. Bijaya Raj Poudel, Treasurer served as national coordinator for the contest. AYON engaged morethan a dozen youth to promote this contest and rio +20 process in Nepal. AYON used  new media ,online news, daily newspaper, radio program and through school/college lobby for the campaign. We reached youths and children in a few numbers through school/college lobby. . School/college lobby were held chitwan colleges, and on kathamandu schools/college such as Kuleswore Awas Secondary English School, Music school, Kelodoscope, etc. On the road to Rio, radio partners were interested on supporting us through radio program, call for participation from though out the country. From online newspapers to daily newspaper supported on publishing Rio+20 GYMC call for participation. We believed reached every youths and children of the country. We are a bit disappointed that due to some limitation like electricity problem, internet excess many cant participate on this contest but we are glad that 19 videos were uploaded. There are 580 like on our facebook page, 29,392 friends of fans, 7 people talking about and 277 weekly total reach.
