The Public hearing program on the 8th December 2014 was organized to create a room for discussion about health right issues and the role of policy makers and implementers. The 117 participants were CA members who belonged to the government’s important body and members from organizations from all over Nepal.
On the area of policy advocacy, the program put emphasis on proper facilities and infrastructure for health service providers as well as means to motivate health persons to work in all rural parts of the country. The participants also discussed the need for an extension of the maternity leave.
Participants from all over Nepal raised health issues to the policy makers (CA members) and asked for policy amendments. They complained about the low quality of health care, especially for mothers. Commitment and answers were provided by the authorities concerning general public’s questions about the public health service.
