For Universal Periodic Review Report
AYON, in a joint collaboration with Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC), organized a consultation meeting on Youth Rights and Rights of Migrant Workers at the Union House, Anamnagar on 19th January, 2015. Representatives from diverse backgrounds working on the sector of Youth, Migration and Human Rights attended the meeting. Mr. Brabim Kumar K.C welcomed the participants and shared the objective of the meeting. It was then followed by a power point presentation highlighting the status of youth, their priority areas, National Youth Policy and Youth Rights in Nepal by the General Secretary of AYON, Mr. Arun Khadka.
Based on the presentation, the floor was open for discussion that covered a range of topics – advocacy and opportunities for youth with disabilities, youth inclusion at policy level, youth trafficking, youth migration, and youth rights in foreign land. The issues raised were addressed by the experts in related sector. Ex-AYONers Pradip Pariyar and Lokraj Awasthi shared their experiences and spoke about the challenges of Nepali youth. Rupa Upreti facilitated the workshop.
