Youth Information and Resource Center (YIRC) Inauguration


Youth Information and Resource Center has been recently developed in AYON secretariat in joint collaboration between AYON and YPEER with the support of UNFPA Nepal. The resource center is aimed to ensure the access of information and utility of resources for the development and empowerment of Youth.

Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) is a national network working as the umbrella of youth led organizations in Nepal which brings together youth organizations for cooperative and collaborative actions for policy making as well as advocacy. Whereas, Youth Peer Education Network Nepal (Y-PEER) is a national network of organizations working on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), Reproductive Health, and HIV/AIDs etc. Y-PEER focuses on the capacity building of youths as well as advocacy to improve the SRH of young people.

This center is jointly run by both networks that are each experienced in issues revolving around Youth, National Youth Policy (NYP), its implementation, Youth Responsive Budget (YRB), Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH), Advocacy to Policymakers and capacitating young individuals and organizations to effectively participate in development change.

The resource center ensures the access of information and utility of resources for the development and empowerment of Youth, youth leaders and representatives from all over Nepal on behalf of various youth organizations who wish to work on their desired projects

The resource center was co-inaugurated by the chief guests for the event, Honorable Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS), Mr. Sushil Ghimire and Country Representative for UNFPA Nepal, Mr. Ian McFarlane within the premises of AYON Office, Babarmahal. The chief guests were made to sign a flex which endorsed the joint inaugural of the resource center. Then the guests took turns to visit the resource center followed by the lunch program.

Youth Resource center comprises of services such as library, computer, internet access, print, photocopy, fax, information regarding opportunites for youth whereas Dvds, LCD Projector to Youth Organizations will be rented upon paying a nominal fee.
