Youth Voices is a campaign which aims to function in a bottom-up consultation approach, recommendation collection and submission process Nepal. The campaign is a completely youth-led for youth initiative which aims to reach more than 10,000 young people from all over Nepal. AYON is working with 20 member organizations from Eastern, Central and Western Development region to implement the local level activities of the campaign. AYON will provide Training of Trainers to representative of 20 member organizations (who will work as field coordinators during the campaign). These trained people will organize approximately 80 community level consultations based upon the democratic dialogue process. While selecting the venues for the consultations, field coordinators will reach 75 % of all constituencies of the districts. After each consultation a youth testimonial will be developed which will later be submitted to local level focal points, respective CA members and CA committees. The participants of consultations will be handed informative leaflets and 5 recommendation collection forms each to be filled by their young peers which are analyzed and later incorporated in local youth statements and national youth statements. The distinct aspect of this project is it is run by youth for the youth due to which participants will be more involved in conversations and dialogue process. It provides opportunities for young people to better understand the constitution building process. To ensure that young people from historically marginalized and disadvantaged communities are present in every activity a guideline will be developed for participant selection on caste and gender basis. We will also involve local level young people leaders in our consultations.
The main objectives of this project are:
- Train and educate young people about Constituent Assembly, Constitution building process and Democracy Dialogue.
- Identify the key issues of youth to be incorporated in new constitution.
- Create linkage between CA members (committees) and youth and simultaneously inform them about youth issues to be incorporated in new constitution.
