International Day for Disaster Reduction 2011

AYON celebrated IDDR Day 2011 remarking with the variety of activities in collaboration with DPNet-Nepal. The activities were held inside and outside of Kathmandu Valley. The activities for IDDR 2011 were as follows: In Kathmandu Valley 13th October 2011 National Symposium on “Importance of Participation of Youths and Children in DRR” at World Trade Centre, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu (8.30 am – 2.00 pm). Coordinated by DPNet-Nepal and AYON Painting on Canvas by Street Children at Tripureshwor, in front of Dasharath Ranga Shala (with signature sheet along the streets for signature campaign, (9.00 am – 2 pm). Coordinated by AYON Demonstration of Painting to the Public and Symposium Participants at Dasharath Ranga Shala (2.00pm – 2.30pm). Coordinated by AYON/DPNet-Nepal Balloon Flying by Youths at Tripureshwor in front of Dasharath Ranga Shala (2.30pm – 3.00pm). The hydrogen balloon will be flown entailing the IDDR slogan and the balloons will be hanged at certain height. Coordinated by Activista Nepal Mobile Exhibition in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur Districts (9.00am Onwards) demonstrating IEC materials for Disaster Risk Reduction with the initiatives made by different agencies. Coordinated by Youth In DRR (YDRR) Signature Campaign at Tripureshwor, Kathmandu (8.30am onwards), the signature sheet will be handover to the concerned government authority. Coordinated by AYON Awareness Rally by school children and child club members of KMC 12, 15, 19 & 20 (starting from Shanti Nikunja School, Ward No 20, Kathmandu at 10am), to aware the community people about disaster and its risk reduction measures to commemorate IDDR day.
